Why digital till slip competitions beat the paper entry

A box of folded slips, a gold arrow, and a phone showing a photo frame.

Till receipt competitions have been around for a long time. The old version asked people to keep the paper, fill in a form, and post it or drop it in a box. Digital entries changed the job. A photo is faster, more engaging, and much richer in data. Here is where the two approaches part company.

1. Ease of participation

Paper meant collecting slips, completing a form, and posting it or taking it back to a store. Plenty of people meant to enter and did not. Digital is a photo on WhatsApp or on the brand’s site. More people finish the entry because the hassle is gone.

2. Speed

Paper could take weeks, and every slip was handled by hand. A digital entry can be checked as it arrives, with a result the shopper can see. Brands can also run campaigns closer to the moment, instead of waiting on a mailbag. The flow is in how a digital till slip competition works.

3. Cost

Paper spends money on forms, postage, storage and people to read the pile. Digital drops most of that. More of the budget can go on the prize and the promotion.

4. Data

A posted form gave you a name, if the handwriting survived. A digital slip can show behaviour, preferences and what was bought, in a form you can actually analyse and use on the next campaign.

5. The environment

Forms, extra paper and the marketing around a box add up. A digital entry cuts that waste, which also matches what a lot of shoppers now expect from a brand.

6. The experience

A long wait flattens the excitement. Instant feedback, a result in the moment, and the option to share a win keep the relationship alive. That is how a competition becomes loyalty, not a one-off form.

Paper did its job. Digital is the better tool now: easier to enter, cheaper to run, richer to read, and lighter on waste. Smartslip.ai is the platform Brazen Labs uses to run that version.
