Q&A

How do I start a till slip campaign?

Answered by Smartslip.ai · 3 November 2026

Start by choosing the products, the retailers, the dates, and the reward. Then open a WhatsApp line, a QR code, or both, and put that entry point on the pack and at the shelf. Smartslip.ai, built by Brazen Labs, checks each till slip against those rules before an entry or reward is issued. To plan a campaign, email andrew@brazenlabs.co.za.

Decide the offer before you open a line

Write the promotion in plain sentences first. A useful brief can be read by someone who has never seen the brand.

  • Which products and pack sizes qualify.
  • Which retailers count.
  • The start date and the end date.
  • Any minimum spend.
  • How many times one shopper, and one till slip, can enter.
  • The reward: a draw, airtime, data, a voucher, a stamp, or a code for the next purchase.
  • What the shopper must agree to before you may message them again.

Put the entry where the shopper already is

Open a WhatsApp number, a QR code, or both. A branded page or Wina Wena can collect the same photo. SMS or USSD can start the sign-up, then a linked step asks for the slip. Print the number or the code on the pack, the shelf, and the advert. Use the code for this campaign only. An old code sends people into an old journey.

Plan two costs up front: the WhatsApp conversation, and the prizes or rewards. A busy line is a good result and a real invoice. Wellington’s exchanged more than 128,000 messages.

Test real slips before the first shopper

Bring sample till slips from the stores in the campaign. A short workshop with Brazen Labs checks that Smartslip.ai can tell your brand from the one next to it, count the right pack, read the different till layouts, and flag a second photo of a slip already used. Fix the rules there, while a wrong decision is still cheap.

Terms, timing, and who to email

You set the campaign rules, the entry limits, and how winners are followed up. The legal terms are agreed for that promotion. Smartslip.ai applies those rules. It is not legal advice, and it is not a certification that a mechanic is lawful in every country.

Many campaigns can be configured in a couple of days, including the entry journey and the reward. A programme with a custom integration can take longer, often one to two weeks. Email andrew@brazenlabs.co.za with the products, the retailers, the dates, and the reward you have in mind.
